Roland Landers
Roland Landers was first introduced to yoga when he was 15 teen years old at the local YMCA in his home town of Nashville TN. Since then his passion and persuit for all things yogic has grown expodentially, ultimately leading him to the ashtanga vinyasa system as taught by the late Pattabhi Jois. After discovering the Ashtanga vinyasa method Roland underwent a 200 hour teacher training program through Shanti
Yoga studio in Myrtle Beach SC in order to broaden his understanding of the unique and sublte art of the vinyasa practice. In class roland teaches the Astanga system as he has learned it, altering it only slightly so as to accomodate to the setting of a led class. The vinyasa system he teaches in particular places heavy emphasis on breath and how it relates to posture and the transtions between postures. As a teacher roland seeks to bring alive the ancient practice of yoga by both quoting from the sutras of patanjali, who systemized the practice of yoga as a school of thought and practice in India around 200 AD, and relaying the method it conveys through interpretation thats both physical and mental. Though no previous practice is necessary and students of all levels are welcome, one should still expect to be challenged as the ashtanga tradition is designed to bring you to your own personal limit. Roland hopes to one day travel to India to begin his training with the current head of the Ashtanga vinyasa system, but untill then is happy to be able to share what he has learned thus far with the community of Louisville.
