Our classes:
We have a variety of classes to choose from! All our teachers are highly qualifed and certified in the form of yoga they teach.
Kristi's yoga:
Kristi’s Yoga is a fun class for beginners to experienced practitioners looking to expand their knowledge. This class is derived from the classic 84 exercises of the Ghosh’s College of Physical Education. Kristi takes experiences from all of her teachers to create a special and knowledgeable sequence for each class.
The class is a great full body workout. The room is warmed to a comfortable 85-90 degrees. Each class lasts 60-75 minutes. The class consists of 40-60 exercises in which each pose is opening the body to prepare for the next pose and 2 breathing exercises, all exercises can be modified for any limitations such as injury or pregnancy. Practice in a safe, non-competitive environment with expert instructor assistance.
The focus of each class is proper alignment, weight distribution and regulated respiration. Through learning proper form in all of the exercises it will help you to receive full therapeutic benefits and avoid injuries. The practice of this yoga will help you build strength, flexibility, concentration, balance, and relaxation.
Rocket series:
Rocket yoga is an aerobic, full-body workout designed to keep the energy level high while breaking through areas of tension and resistance. Fun and accessible to beginners and intermediate students, the Rocket incorporates more core abdominal moves, inversions, hip openers, backbends, and twists than traditional yoga classes. Developed 20 years ago by Larry Schultz, the founder of It’s Yoga San Francisco, Rocket yoga is a version of the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga series, which incorporates conscious breathing, core strength, and steady gaze to build flexibility, endurance, and serenity. The practice was named the “Rocket” by members of the Grateful Dead because, they said, “it gets you there faster.”
Rocket I (75 minutes):
Every rocket sequence is made up of 4 parts. Starting with traditional Ashtanga Sun Salutations, the sequence moves to an original standing sequence, as well as arm balances to build strength and protect joints. On the floor, yogis will recognize the sequence as being a modification of the Ashtanga seated primary series, followed by the traditional Ashtanga finishing series.
Rocket II (90 minutes):
Building on the same standing series as Rocket I, Rocket II diverges when it comes to the seated series. Based on the back-bending sequence of the intermediate series of Ashtanga, this routine complements the forward folds of Rocket I, laying the foundations for a strong practice.
Pilates:
Developed by German immigrant Joseph Pilates in the 1920s as part of a rehabilitation program for prisoners of war, Pilates is a series of exercises designed to condition the whole body using movements that focus on correct anatomical alignment and balance. The Mat sequences combine conscious breath work with exercises that can improve posture, core strength, and mind-body awareness.
